Structure of the Human Eye

The human eye is one of the most valuable and sensitive sense organs. It enables us to see the wonderful world and the colors around us. Eye helps us to see near and distant objects clearly. Thus, of all the sense organs, the human eye is the most significant one as it enables us to see the beautiful, colorful world around us.

A human eye is the most important organ of our body which is an optical device that serves as our organs of sight. The human eye is like a camera.

The Eyeball of the human eye is spherical in shape. The diameter of the eyeball is 2.3cm. Though there is a marginal difference in size in some people. It consists of a tough fibrous membrane called sclera that protects the internal parts of the eye.

Iris: A dark muscular tissue and ring-like structure behind the cornea are known as the iris. The colour of the iris actually indicates the colour of the eye. The iris also helps regulate or adjust exposure by adjusting the iris.

Pupil: A small opening in the iris is known as a pupil. Its size is controlled by the help of iris. It controls the amount of light that enters the eye.

Function of the Human Eye
The eye of a human being is like a camera. Much like the electronic device, the human eye also focuses and lets in light to produce images.
So basically, light rays that are deflected from or by distant objects land on the retina after they pass through various mediums like the cornea, crystalline lens, aqueous humor, the lens, and vitreous humor.
